Superior Court Releases Data on Jury Trial Verdicts in Medical Malpractice, Slip-and-Fall, and Auto Accident Cases for 2019

The Superior Court of the District of Columbia has released compilations of data regarding jury trial verdicts in medical malpractice, slip-and-fall, and auto accident cases for 2019 (i.e., January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019). According to the compilations:

» There were three jury trial verdicts in medical malpractice cases during 2019, two of which were for the plaintiff. The verdicts were for $14,350,000 and $680,000, and both involved misdiagnosis.

» There were four jury trial verdicts in slip-and-fall cases during 2019, one of which was for the plaintiff. The verdict was for $35,000, and involved permanency of injury.

» There were thirty-six jury trial verdicts in auto accident cases during 2019. Twenty-two of those verdicts were for the plaintiff. The largest plaintiff verdict was for $3,000,000, and involved verifiable back and neck injury and permanency of injury. All of the other verdicts were for less than $40,000.
