Superior Court Releases Data on Jury Trial Verdicts in Medical Malpractice, Slip-and-Fall, and Auto Accident Cases for 2015
The Superior Court of the District of Columbia recently released compilations of data regarding jury trial verdicts in medical malpractice, slip-and-fall, and auto accident cases for 2015 (i.e., January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015). According to the compilations:
» There were three jury trial verdicts in medical malpractice cases during 2015, one of which was for the plaintiff. The plaintiff verdict was in a case involving serious permanency of injury, and was in the amount of approximately $1.12 million.
» There were two slip-and-fall jury trial verdicts during 2015, one of which was for the plaintiff. The plaintiff verdict was in a case involving soft tissue injury and permanency of injury, and was in the amount of $125,000.
» There were fifty-two jury trial verdicts in auto accident cases during 2015. Twenty-five of those verdicts were for the plaintiff. The highest verdict for a plaintiff was $850,000, and was in a case involving permanency of injury. The remaining plaintiff verdicts were all within the range of $950 to $100,000.
